Christmas 2020

Christmas 2020 will be like no other, without in-person gatherings, we will mark the season as best we can with livestreams and videos created for you to honour these milestones and special gatherings in December. You’re invited to join us for any and all of our Christmas gatherings:

Blue Christmas Spiritual Gathering – Livestream Wednesday, December 16th @ 7PM

This is a reflective service honoring the experiences of grief and loss. With meditative music, readings and candle lighting, we seek comfort and hope for the complexity of our memories, emotions and expectations of the Christmas Season.

A Christmas Carol – Livestream Saturday, December 19th @ 7pm

This is an SSUC reader’s theatre production of the classic Charles Dickens tale, complete with music of the season, all offered by our own readers and musicians. If you are able, we invite you to make a donation to SSUC designated for the local ecumenical “No Room in the Inn” project.

Winter Solstice – Video Link available Monday, December 21st

This is an experience to honour the longest night of the year. Music and readings help us to appreciate the dark and mark the cycle of the earth’s rotation. Subscribe to our e-Messenger or visit the SSUC YouTube channel to view.

A Shared Christmas Story Experience – Video Link available in the days before Christmas

This is a collaboration with SSUC families to help tell the Christmas story and provide a way to share in the child-like fun in telling the nativity story and singing Christmas songs! Subscribe to our e-Messenger or visit the SSUC YouTube channel to view.

Christmas Eve – Livestream Thursday, December 24th @ 7pm

Celebrate in a Christmas Eve gathering of song and story, and a special candlelight experience that will connect us all as community.

All our livestreams are available by visiting ssucedmonton.com/live. By visiting this page, you can also view the streams of any broadcast after they’ve aired. For example, if you can’t join us live on Christmas Eve at 7pm, visit the page and view it later that evening or anytime in the future.
