Healing Hatha Yoga: Join Sharon McMullan-Baron, a certified instructor for healing yoga on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, September to June. Drop-in fee is $5.00. This is a multi-level class suitable for beginners.

College & Early Career Group: An opportunity for those in college/university or those early in their work life to get to know one another and do some great things together.

Parents of Young Children: Parents of young children are invited to join this supportive group to share the woes and highlights of parenthood. The group meets the third Saturday of the month, 10:30 am. Child care is provided. Woo hoo!

Tuesday Connection: Tuesday Connection is a women’s discussion group that meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:15 to 11:45 am, September to May. Discussion topics are diverse and wide-ranging using books, guest speakers and other online resources. Mid-morning coffee provides a time for further connection and support. All women are welcome!

Rainbow Connection Youth/Young Adults: Rainbow Connection is a collection of teens and young adults who are creating safe space for all young humans needing connection, community, a place to hang out…. Everyone is welcome – We are LGBTQ2S, Allies, Cis or Gender Queer. Opportunities include weekly yoga (Mondays 7:30 pm), art nights, movie nights, All-Ages Dance parties and more!

Book Club: We are a large, welcoming group of people who love reading books and then discussing them at the meetings. We meet from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Small Hall on the third Monday of each month from September to May. We wind up the year with a pot luck and each of us offers one or two suggestions; the eight receiving the most votes become our selections for the following year.

Adult Choir: No experience necessary! Choir meets Thursday evenings at 7:15 pm in the Small Hall.

Silvertones Choir: Get ready to join us for the 4th Sunday each month (with holiday exceptions) and enjoy a lunch and a short sing-a-long after. Those who would like to learn something special may choose to stay a little longer and practice with us for a future event.

Music Ensembles: Our music ensemble meets twice monthly to rehearse pieces for occasional spiritual gatherings and other festive occasions. Musicians are always welcome to play along to all songs during the spiritual gathering. Our fledgling drumming group plays a few times a year too.

Truth & Reconciliation Response Circle: A group of people who explore ways of enabling the congregation to live into our Treaty 6 mutuality and enact the ‘Calls to Action’ recommended in the TRC Report. Aboriginal Day observances, awareness events, partnerships and conversations are part of the work.

Sacred Circle Dance: Sacred Circle Dance meets on the first Wednesday of the month, 7:30 pm in the Small Hall. All are welcome! No dance experience necessary! We dance our prayers, our joys, our sorrows, and our fears. It is a time to honour the sacred within us.

Bridge Club: A group that plays social bridge welcomes anyone who wants to play regularly or as a spare.

Standing Committees: All are welcome to join a committee’s work and find out more about what work each is doing within the community.

Outreach Committee: Coordinates support and partnerships with other agencies, social justice issues and needs of the broader community.

Congregational Care Committee: Coordinates the compassionate care, visitation and need for community and connection among those in the congregation.

Property Maintenance Committee: Coordinates the maintenance of our facility and grounds.

Spiritual Gatherings Team: Works with the Ministry Team to plan and coordinate weekly and special gatherings.

Media and Communications Committee: Oversees the publicity, internal and external communications of SSUC.

Affirm Committee: Plans and coordinates events and work of SSUC as an affirming community, with a special emphasis on LGBTQ2S and ally inclusiveness, education and awareness.

Adult Education: Plans and coordinates adult learning opportunities including book studies and discussion groups centered around spirituality and other topics of interest.

Ministry and Personnel: Oversees and supports our staff and acts as our own small human resource crew.

Finance: Works with the treasurer to ensure the financial health of the congregation.
