“I believe the universal need for a story to live by”—a “transcendent” story, “something very real”—can be encountered in “the Christian story, through which billions of people have found a pattern and purpose to life….” In an August interview with solas-cpc.org, the popular British apologist and podcaster Justin Brierley observes, “[A]fter a long spell in the grip of the atheist materialist worldview, we see Western culture begin to open up to the idea of God again.”

According to bobonbooks.com, Brierley points up “a crisis of meaning for which atheism did not have an answer.” Religion & Liberty Online contributor Gene Veith considers Brierley’s “account of this shift in perception is the most valuable” finding that he tells in his new book, The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God. “Brierley sees the tide turning”: there’s “a new openness to faith that he sees emerging in contemporary thought.”

There may be no one better to report this: for more than a decade, Brierley hosted the weekly radio show and podcast “Unbelievable?,” for which he brought together believing and secular thinkers for some give-and-take. As solas-cpc.org puts it, “Justin is passionate about creating thoughtful conversations about faith with both Christians and skeptics.”
