Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 6

The transitions of our lives are sacred and special places. Change is constant. Why do we need to stop and mark them? The biggest and most important reason: Because with every transition in our lives, with every old thing we put away or wish to end, with every new thing we put on and wish to begin, WE OURSELVES are becoming someone new. And whenever we are becoming a new person, let’s note it. Let’s celebrate it. Let’s come out and honour it!

Marking who we are, who we were, who we’re becoming is a huge part of rituals.

The way we honour the changes in ourselves is important. We’ve so often marked the births, the marriages, the entrances. But what about the breakups, the new relationships, the surgeries, the moving house, the coming outs, the gender transitions.

Respond:
What new thing are you trying this season? What new part of yourself are you trying out? What transition deserves to be noticed and marked in your life?

One Response

  1. Nothing new really. Just a promise to draw and paint more intentionally. Then, more time with family and friends, especially friends overseas.
    More letter writing…
Transitions…. being of limitations in this aging physical body! Need to set boundaries and not become frustrated with what can’t be done.
