Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

Living in this world, understanding it, railing against its directions of anger, hate, exclusion, war, intolerance, injustice, inequity, and a whole lot else…it’s all very difficult and it brings out a vast array of emotions in us.

As too does our focus on the love, energy, kindness, helpfulness, hard work and inspiring humans that are making positive differences. These bring out emotions in us too.

And when we acknowledge these emotions and link them to our actions – be it by simply sharing, by marching together, by planning a letter-writing campaign, by making decisions with our wallets, our voices, and our feet, then we are building our capacity for resistance.

Our rituals help us know we’re not alone, that we work at change bit by bit, and side by side.

In what ways have you found a ritual of sharing a concern or working together with others on an issue of social justice or righting a wrong? How does this help you acknowledge your emotions, your unease, your need to act?
